Rule Changes from USAR

From USARacquetball.org site --

Survey About Serving Out-of-orderThe Board of Directors:

1- approved the rule limiting the length of the wrist cord,

2- rejected the “one serve for all open AGE divisions” concept, and

3- decided to revisit the penalty for “serving out-of-order” in light of some newly offered factors.

Although large majorities of those voting favored a change to the current rule, precise degree of the “change” is what’s still under consideration.  Three possible alternatives are being considered: (1) assess the “out” penalty, but limit the points deducted to only those scored “out-of-order while the team is still serving (this was what was originally considered), (2) assess the “out” penalty, but don’t deduct any points, and (3) eliminate this rule entirely and just let the players serve in any order they want each time the team comes in to serve.

Alternatives (2) and (3) factor in the difficulty of recalling exactly how many points were scored.  Alternative (3) also asks the question “Is there really any advantage to serving in any particular order and, if not, then why is there a penalty at all?

Please take a moment to express your opinion in the poll on the USARacquetball.org site. They will use the information to help with the rule change.
