CVRA Seeking Motivated Individuals for Board Positions:
Do you have a strong interest in contributing to the development of racquetball in Virginia? Will your schedule allow you to make a three-year commitment to devoting a few hours per month to specific committee involvement and to attending one day-long (approximate) meeting in a central location and four other short meetings held at specific tournaments? If so, Virginia Racquetball needs you.
The CVRA Board has four open positions as of April 1, 2010, and we are looking for dedicated individuals to fill them. Please review the duties listed below and if you are interested in participating on the CVRA Board, compile a bio sketch listing your past racquetball/administrative/leadership experience and what you would like to see accomplished in the next few years. All bios should be received by midnight, January 15, 2010 for inclusion in the CVRA Winter newsletter.

Duties of all Board Members:
1. To work with others in promoting the purpose/goal of the Commonwealth of Virginia Racquetball Association (CVRA):
The purpose of the CVRA is to bring together Virginia racquetball players (and persons interested in racquetball) in environments and circumstances which will promote and encourage good play, good sportsmanship, and good fun and which will increase the appreciation for and enjoyment of the sport of racquetball.
This purpose will be served by (but not limited to):
a. Initiating and sponsoring racquetball tournaments, championships, clinics, programs, and exhibitions according to the rules and regulations of the CVRA and USRA.
b. Establishing effective communication with other state and national organizations concerning information and programs to develop racquetball.
c. Creating and supporting a demand for good quality equipment and educational resources that improve the quality of play.
d. Maintaining a player ranking system based on the results of CVRA-sanctioned tournaments. Only players maintaining a valid membership (i.e. dues paid) will have points forwarded to USRA through CVRA for ranking.
e. Resolving racquetball disputes in Virginia concerning rules, player eligibility, or any other matter.
f. Informing the public of the nature and benefits of racquetball, and encouraging public support.
2. To attend one day long meeting during at a non-tournament time, four short meetings during tournaments, and any emergency meeting called by the President.
3. To review, discuss, comment and/or vote when required on all emails pertaining to specific CVRA related issues.
4. To act as a USAR representative (when needed) during tournaments by assisting with the collection of USAR membership dues to ensure that all playing participants are current USAR members.
5. To assist tournament directors in their specific region if requested.
6. To work with others to ensure that the CVRA portion of sponsorship contracts are being filled.
7. To carry on specific duties attached to official positions and/or committees.
