CVRA Hall of Fame

The CVRA Board has established a Hall of Fame to recognize players and racquetball sport contributors and lifetime achievers who have had an impact on racquetball in Virginia and have a passion for the sport. In addition to the specific qualifications described below, nominees: must be 40 years of age or older, have been a resident of the Commonwealth of Virginia for at least 5 years, cannot self-nominate, and who are deceased are eligible. Any CVRA member, in good standing, may nominate one person per year for consideration into the CVRA Hall of Fame.

 

Categories

Nominees are considered for the CVRA Hall of Fame in the following two categories:

  1. Athlete

  2. Sport Contributor-Lifetime Achievement

Criteria for Nomination

  1. Nominees can be considered after reaching their 40th birthday.

  2. Athlete nominees can be considered through demonstration of exceptional skill in state, regional and/or national tournament competition. 

  3. Athletes will have a record of outstanding performance that extends over a period of at least five years. 

  4. Leadership/contributor nominees can be considered through generous and notable giving of time and talent that materially advances and grows the sport. 

  5. A leader/contributor must have 10 years of involvement in racquetball activity beyond athletic involvement.

  6. Board members are not eligible until three years after last term served.

  7. All nominees must have been a legal resident of the Virginia Commonwealth for at least five years.

 

Application Procedure

The CVRA Board will select a Hall of Fame Nomination Committee from representatives across the state. All applications will be submitted to the Hall of Fame Committee Nomination Committee for review, which will make recommendations to a separate voting committee. Any CVRA member can submit applications. The Nomination Committee will consist of not less than five (5) and not more than seven (7) members. All successful nominees must be affirmed by 2/3 vote of the voting committee.

 The person submitting the application must provide, as a minimum, the following information in a letter or email form:

  1. Full name of the nominee

  2. Accomplishments and/or contributions to the game of racquetball

  3. History of racquetball experience; years involved in the sport; and number of CVRA tournaments played (if applicable)
