The 2025 Liberty University James River Open is officially in the books—and what a weekend it was! Held April 11–12 at Liberty University’s LaHaye Recreation & Fitness Center, this event brought together 43 players from across Virginia and beyond for two days of exciting matches, great food, and community connection.

Thank You, Players!
To all our participants: thank you! Your flexibility as we shuffled the schedule to keep courts full and matches flowing was deeply appreciated. We know racquetball tournaments require some patience—and you delivered.
A special thanks goes out to the Liberty University student volunteers, who went above and beyond all weekend:
• Picking up and serving meals
• Refilling the Gatorade coolers to keep players hydrated
• Stepping in to referee matches when needed
Your energy and effort helped the tournament run smoothly from start to finish.
Organizers and Contributors
Behind the scenes, many individuals worked tirelessly to bring this tournament to life. We’d like to give a heartfelt thank you to:
• Joe Aboid and Jeff Lawrence – for securing our venue and sponsors
• Danny Rodriguez – for coordinating with Liberty to secure access to the facility
• Jim Swartz – for lining up a stellar lineup of food sponsors
• Paige Jordan – for keeping us organized and running the board like a pro
A Shout-Out to Our Sponsors
We couldn’t have pulled this off without the generous support of our sponsors. Please join us in thanking:
• Head Penn – for supplying all the ProPenn Green balls used throughout the tournament
• Jim Daly of Daly Seven – for his generous sponsorship
• Kroger (Forest location) – for breakfast supplies
• Bojangles (Forest location) – for treats and refreshments
• Charleys (Lynchburg) – for providing delicious lasagna and salad
• Texas Roadhouse – for barbecue and their famous rolls
• Liberty University – for hosting us at their top-tier racquetball facility
Supporting Collegiate Racquetball
Thanks to your participation and generous donations, the tournament:
• Awarded $1,035 in prize money across all divisions
• Raised $475 to support the Liberty University Racquetball Team
As always, CVRA is committed to supporting nationally competitive collegiate racquetball programs in Virginia, and we’re proud to continue that mission with events like this.
